Meet Captain Abdula

Salam. My name is Abdula Mohammed.

I am captain of the Copenhagen felucca, which is an Egyptian sail boat. I have been sailing felucca boats on the Nile in Upper Egypt for three years. I love to sail. My dream is that some day I will have enough money to buy my own felucca. It is going to be very big and nice.

I am twenty years old and one of ten children in a large Nubian family. My mother is forty-five years of age, while my father is seventy years. My parents married when my mother was only fifteen. My father works in Saudi Arabia as a cab driver. I guess the money is better there than in Egypt.

I live in a small Nubian village just north of Aswan. The population in my town is just 1500 people. Would you like to come and meet my family?

My favorite Egyptian dish is Koshari, which is made of macaroni noodles, rice, black lentils, fried onions and tomato sauce. It is delicious. My favorite type of tourist is the Japanese tourist. They pay the most money. My favorite movie is one with Jackie Chan. Aswan cinema does not play American movies. I do not know who Michael Jordan is, but I do know of Michael Jackson. I like his music. I also like Bob Marley.
