The Chianti hills--justifiably famous for its Chianti wine-- are a glorious part of central Italy that we would never have seen had it not been for our chance encounter with the Kaufmans. When we first ran into them in Siena, we each were heading in different directions, but realized that roughly a week later we all would be near Florence (they would be staying near the village of Greve in Chianti near Florence, and we would return to Florence from Venice to see off our aunts from the Florence airport). So we planned on trying to get together. And although we were almost thwarted by a bad telephone number, we did hook up for a great evening of food and fun.

We traveled out to thier villa for a great Italian meal expertly prepared by Mark--he is quite the chef. You can see him working hard in the background while Rich and Chris enjoy another glass of wine.
We stayed one day in Greve in Chianti and another night in a nearby hill town, Panzano. It was a great place ot unwind and relax after the intensive 12 days of sightseeing with our aunts--they wore us out!

With a soil and climate ideal for grapes which, in turn, become wine, vineyards are the most common sight as you look across the Chianti landscape.

Well, we are satisfied with our Italy experience. We hope that
